History
WebSkills UK Ltd has been hosting websites for businesses since 1997, that's over 12 years!

Data Centers & Server Infrastructure
Our servers are based in two geographic locations, this is mainly for the benefit of search engines - allowing our customers to have their site hosted in their target country.

UK
The majority of our hosting is in the form of a collection of Virtual Private Servers in the Blue Square Datacentre. This datacentre is located in Maidenhead, Berkshire, UK. It is a fully secure site with an uninteruptable power supply.

US: ORLANDO
We use a very reliable reseller to host some sites on a server at the HostDime DataCentre in Orlando, Florida, USA. Again, this location is fully secure and includes everything you would expect from a data center.

Technology
Our servers are Linux based running either CentOS or Ubuntu. They support PHP 5, MySql 4 and Sendmail. You can have FTP and Control Panel access to your account on request*.
* Some extra restrictions apply to sites running our Content Management System.

E-Mail Hosting
We offer two options for e-mail hosting. It can either be hosted on one of our servers, or it can be hosted on the Google Apps platform.

Statistics
All new sites we develop will have Google Analytics setup on them. In addition to this, our servers run the Webalizer statistics software which produces information from your site access logs. These logs will remain on our servers for you to view (or download) for up to 3 months, after which time we reserve the right to have them taken down to conserve disk usage.

Monitoring Systems
We have developed our own monitoring system which we use to ensure server uptime. This system ensures that the servers key systems (Apache, MySql and Bind) are online and notifies us of us of any potential issues. This system also logs the server usage to help us ensure that servers do not become overloaded.

Server Uptime Guarantees
Our servers have a 99.95% uptime guarantee. This covers network and power uptime. It does not cover any circumstances outside of our control which could cause downtime such as unavailability/interruption/delay in telecommunications or third party services (including DNS propagation), natural disaster or war. It does not include scheduled maintenace or upgrades; although wherever possible we try to keep this to off-peak times.

Acceptable Usage Policy
All users of our servers are expected to respect other users of our server by limiting the strain put on the machine. This can include the size and number of files uploaded, the size and complexity of database systems, the processing power for some scripts to execute and the number of connections to any servicve (including but not limitted to Apache, MySql, POP3 and SMTP).
If an account is using too many resources to the extent that it affects the availability of others sites then we will make every effort to discuss this with you and come to an arrangement that resolves the issue.

In addition to this, there are restrictions on what may be hosted on our servers. This includes anything deemed Defamatory, Abusive, Spam or otherwise unlawful. This also includes any breaches of Copyright or Trademark infringement.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
We can provide dedicated SSL certificates for an additional cost. These certificates provide 128/256-bit encryption and are compatible with 99.3% of browsers. All sites with an SSL certificate will include a dedicated IP address.
